Meet ELCA Pastor Vicky Lovell

A beacon of inspiration, we are delighted that Pastor Vicky has joined us as stated supply minister.

She asks us, who are we as a church? The question is one that many spiritual institutions are asking themselves in a post-pandemic world. It is time that IACLC explore the answer to that question as well.

Over the course of the next four weeks members of the congregation is invited to share important stories on the timeline of the church and Bible verses that are meaningful to them. There will be signs posted in the lounge where these stories and verses can be written or they can be emailed to Pastor Vicky at <vicky@victorialovell.com>.

Indian Village Yard Sales

Saturday, September 21, 2024

We joined with our neighbors in Indian Village for a neighborhood wide yard sale. Treasures and trinkets, donated to the church, were profitably sold on the church lawn. Water and other refreshments were also available.

Thanks to all the volunteers who helped set up the sale and were at the tables during the sale. Also thanks to everyone who donated items. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

Summer Food Pantry 2024 â€‹â€‹

The Food Pantryis open Fridays from 9:00am to 12:00 noon, except the first Friday of the month.  It is outside on the lawn, weather permitting.  Fresh fruits and vegetable, meat, canned goods,  milk, bread, and personal items are give away each week.  Special events are held regularly.

Plants and seeds from Keep Growing Detroit are distributed to all who want them, each spring. This results in a wide spread COMMUNITY GARDEN, providing both fresh food and a connection to nature to participants.

Working with Gleaners, we offered a COOKING CLASS for clients of the Food Pantry. Using  "Cooking Matters"  as a text, students learned to prepare healthy and delicious foods, on a budget. The classes included "hands on" cooking experiences, free cooking tools, coupons, and  trip to a supermarket.  On the last day, a special healthy dessert was made and each  student was awarded  a graduation certification.  There were smiles all around.

HOT DOG DAY  provides everyone with a meal of America's favorite sausage, freshly grilled, in a bun. Beverages, chips and an array of condiments are also provided.

Hot Dog Day was funded by

Thrivent Financial.

Easter

Alleluia! Christ Is Risen!

He Has Risen Indeed! Alleluia!

Pastor Vicky lead us in a joyful celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

After worship, we joined together for photos, fellowship, and refreshments.

The children enjoyed an Easter hunt.

It was a great morning indeed.

Children's Christmas Program

On Sunday, December 17, 2023, the children again delighted us with a Christmas pageant. This year the theme was The Little Drummer Boy, the popular Christmas carol. The children discussed what gifts would be right for  new born Jesus. They finally decided to sing to the beat of the drum. The congregation joined in. After the pageant, children assisted with the service. It was a joyous  morning!
