Meet ELCA Pastor Vicky Lovell

A beacon of inspiration, we are delighted that Pastor Vicky has joined us as stated supply minister.

She asks us, who are we as a church? The question is one that many spiritual institutions are asking themselves in a post-pandemic world.

It is time that IACLC explore the answer to that question as well.

She will be guiding us as we search for an answer.

Pastor Vicky's  other ministries are "Living RED"  and "Angel Whispers".

Both are non-traditional healing  ministries. To learn more:

Our Congregation Grows

We have missed Deana since she moved to Ohio. However, she returns for the baptism of her daughter Rhyse on Sunday, November 24, 2024.  We rejoice at the baptism of little Rhyse. We also enjoyed seeing  Deana and her family.

We gained another member as Dorothy joined the congregation at Iroquois Ave. Christ Lutheran this week. Dorothy is a long time Lutheran and we rejoice to become her home congregation.

Christmas Food Pantry

Friday, December 20, 2024

At this special Christmas Food Pantry. almost 200 of our neighbors received food, cleaning supplies, and gifts from a special Christmas Shop to take home to their families.

All the regular volunteers were there, extra volunteers came to help and generous donations were made by individuals and organizations including Thrivent Financial, St. Peter's Lutheran  in Warren, and the Indian Village Men's Garden Club.

The spirit of Christmas was truly felt by all who participated in this joyous event.

First Communion on All Saints'  Sunday, November 3, 2024

Pastor Vicky had been instructing three young people in the meaning of the Eucharist  (Holy Communion). This Sunday, they joined the "Welcome  Table"  at our church by having  their First Holy Communion. This is a major step in their growth as Christians.

This was also All Saints' Sunday, the day we remember those who have died in the last year. A list of relatives and friends  who died in the last year was read. Candles were lit in their memory.

Summer Food Pantry 2024

The Food Pantryis open Fridays from 9:00am to 12:00 noon, except the first Friday of the month.  It is outside on the lawn, weather permitting.  Fresh fruits and vegetable, meat, canned goods,  milk, bread, and personal items are give away each week.  Special events are held regularly.

Plants and seeds from Keep Growing Detroit are distributed to all who want them, each spring. This results in a wide spread COMMUNITY GARDEN, providing both fresh food and a connection to nature to participants.

Working with Gleaners, we offered a COOKING CLASS for clients of the Food Pantry. Using  "Cooking Matters"  as a text, students learned to prepare healthy and delicious foods, on a budget. The classes included "hands on" cooking experiences, free cooking tools, coupons, and  trip to a supermarket.  On the last day, a special healthy dessert was made and each  student was awarded  a graduation certification.  There were smiles all around.

HOT DOG DAY  provides everyone with a meal of America's favorite sausage, freshly grilled, in a bun. Beverages, chips and an array of condiments are also provided.

Hot Dog Day was funded by

Thrivent Financial.
